Effective treatment for Depression and Anxiety

It is well-accepted that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the gold standard treatment for anxiety and depression. Developed in the 1960s, CBT has strong evidence-based support for its efficacy and is widely seen as helpful and non-traumatizing for depression and anxiety that arises from many different situations. While I also employ newer techniques such as Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and  Internal Family Systems, it is rare that I do not ground my clinical approach to treating a client’s anxiety and depression in the well-established, time-honored techniques of CBT.
